A third Beach Death! Israeli-born actor Alon Abutbul collapsed and died at Dor-HaBonim Beach on July 29. He was 60. Though most of his work was done in Israel, Abutbul also appeared in the Hollywood films Every Time We Say Goodbye, Rambo III, The Dark Knight Rises, Body of Lies, and London Has Fallen, and on TV in Homeland, NCIS, The Mentalist, Castle, Twin Peaks, and Madam Secretary. Abutbul made his first film in 1980, his star-making part coming with 1986’s war film Shtei Etzbaot Mi'Tzidon. He went on to appear in numerous Israeli films and TV series, and in 2000 was named "Film Actor of the Decade" at the Haifa International Film Festival. He also acted onstage, and was a regular presence at the Haifa Theater. Abutbul was active in the Israeli Labor Party, and spoke (and wrote) about corruption in Israeli politics. His brother Avraham Abutbul, also an actor, died of cancer in 2012.
