Art Evans, 1942 - 2024

Character actor Art Evans, 82, died on Dec. 21. Evans appeared on Broadway in The Amen Corner (1965), then moved to films. His best-known movie roles were probably as the air traffic controller in Die Hard 2, and as Blind Lemon Jefferson in Leadbelly. His other films included Claudine, The Main Event, The In-Laws, Christine, A Soldier’s Story, Ruthless People, and The Mighty Quinn. Evans was also a regular on TV, though his only continuing role was in the little-seen Nine to Five sitcom in the ’80s. But he did one-offs in such shows as Hill Street Blues, Chico and the Man, Monk, The X-Files, Police Woman, In the Heat of the Night, Mad About You, Dream On, and Everybody Hates Chris.
