Singer Cavin Yarbrough (Yarbrough and Peoples), 72, died of heart disease on June 19. He and his wife, Alisa Peoples, recorded such ‘80s hits as "Don't Stop the Music," “Don’t Waste Your Time,” "I Wouldn't Lie," and “Heartbeats.” Yarbrough began his career playing with Leon Russell and The Wilson Brothers, before teaming up with his childhood sweetheart, Alisa Peoples (the two married in 1987, and she survives him). The couple appeared Off-Broadway in Blind Lemon Blues (Yarbrough played Lead Belly), and in the movies A Christmas Miracle and The Ring That Binds Us. Yarbrough told interviewer Gina Sedman, “Both of our families were musical. Everyone sang and played instruments in our family, including my mother, father, and sisters. My wife and I met while taking piano lessons. Because we respect each other's abilities and gifts, we are a strong tower.”
