
British stage, screen and TV actor John Woodvine, 96, died on Oct. 6. Woodvine worked at the Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as many regional and West End theaters. He appeared in just about every show Shakespeare ever wrote, as well as such more modern productions as Machinal, Anna Christie, Nicholas Nickleby, 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, Inherit the Wind, and The Andersonville Trial. He also had a long movie and TV career, beginning in the 1950s and carrying on through 2022: Danger Man, Darling, Secret Agent, The Avengers, Elizabeth R (as Sir Francis Drake), The Devils, Young Winston, Dr. Who, An American Werewolf in London, All Creatures Great and Small, Jackanory, Dr. Finlay, The Crown, and Holby City, among many others. He is survived by his wife, actress Lynn Farleigh; one of his daughters, Mary Woodvine, is also an actress.
