Jonathan Joss, who voiced John Redcorn in King of the Hill, was shot to death outside his San Antonio home on June 1, allegedly after an argument with a neighbor (who was taken into custody). Joss was 59. He took over the role of King’s John Redcorn in 1996, when the original actor, Victor Arron, died in a car accident. Beginning in 1994, Joss appeared in such TV shows and movies as Walker Texas Ranger, Charmed, ER, In Plain Sight, Friday Night Lights, Parks and Recreation, Grow Up, and Tulsa King. Joss had had a run of bad luck—in January he lost his home to a fire, in which three of his dogs died. “People have come together,” he said at the time (probably not including a certain neighbor). “They’ve brought clothing to us. They’ve brought food, so I mean, we’re not the only people that are going through tragedies right now.  Not living in L.A., I thought I wouldn’t be affected by fire. The Creator does certain things, and we can’t question His powers.”
