Actor Kevyn Major Howard, a supporting player of the ’80s and ’90s, died at a Las Vegas hospital on Feb. 14. He was 69. Best known for his roles in Full Metal Jacket and Sudden Impact, he also appeared onscreen in War Party, Alien Nation, and The Real Thing. Howard was mostly busy on TV: no recurring roles, but one-offs on CHiPS, T.J. Hooker, The A-Team, Magnum P.I., and Miami Vice, among others. More recently, he executive-produced Scorched (directed by his brother, Kelsey T. Howard), and Yolo County O.G. In addition to being a successful portrait photographer, Howard was very active in veteran’s charities and causes. He founded Fueled by the Fallen, which grants scholarships to military members’ survivors.
