South Korean actress Lee Joo-sil, 80, died on Feb. 2. She earned her doctorate in public health from Wonkwang University with a thesis catchily titled The Effect of Integrated Arts Therapy on the Post-Traumatic Self-Identity, Self-Esteem, and Self-Control of North Korean Defectors. Lee was an acclaimed theater actress, appearing in everything from Shakespeare to Arthur Miller. Beginning in the 1980s, she was also busy on TV and in the movies, costarring in such series as Lady President, Poseidon, Heaven’s Garden, Stormy Woman, Tomorrow Victory, Bad Thief Good Thief, and It’s Beautiful Now. Lee was best known in the US for her supporting role in Netflix’s Squid Game.
