Australian actress Rachael Carpani, 45, died on Dec. 7, after a long illness. Born in Sydney, her star-making role was as Jodi Fountain in the Australian soap McLeod's Daughters; in the US she was best known for TV’s Home and Away. Through the 21st century, Carpani appeared (in the US and Australia) in such movies and TV shows as Law Dogs, Cane, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Glades, Against the Wall, If There Be Thorns, and Seeds of Yesterday. She said of her role as ditzy cop Abby in Against the Wall, “The first time I read it ... in one of the first scenes, she trips over a rock and drops all her stuff and tries to cover for herself. And I just went, ‘Oh my goodness, I just did that.’ My friend at the time looked at me and said, ‘Wow, you won't even have to act for this role.’”
