Tomo Sakurai, 1971 – 2025

Japanese voice actress Tomo Sakurai, 53, died of cancer on Aug. 13. Sakurai first came to fame with the singing group Lemon Idol, then turned to mostly anime voice-overs. She played Mylene Flare Jenius in the popular Macross 7. She also voiced characters in such movies, shows and video games as Rurouni Kenshin, El Hazard - The Magnificent World, Saint Tail, Gintama, Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, Lil' Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha, Shakugan no Shana, Ushio & Tora, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles.
